Boat handling and safety day

Despite the awful rain a number of the members attended today at the Lenches fishery to take part in a boat safety and handling day. Bob Cooper, Paul Aston, Terry Sumner, Julia North, Mark Siviter, Tony Woods and Colin Hurford made up the party plus Pete, Ken and I. The committee decided that as a number of newer members were not experienced boat fishers it would be sensible to give some kind of input in advance of our annual trip to Eyebrook and the visit to Patshull pool.Input was from yours truly plus Pete Webb on knots and Ken Nutting on boat handling and the like. We were well looked after by Amanda with tea and coffee plus bacon sandwiches and our thanks go to her for allowing us to host the event there. Vic Knight, well known local guide and instructor, also showed up and gave us valuable information – thanks Vic.

Thanks to all for making the event a success – we can now all get well and truly knotted with ease – remember lads pull on the yellow end, or, was that the other yellow end!! Sorry Pete couldn’t resist that!

Here we see the happy band below.
