26th March saw the Worcester Fly Dressers season come to a close with the presentation of awards to prizewinners, an event where members partners were also made welcome for this closing event.
The evening got off with the presentation to the winner of the fly-fishing competition, which was held at a very soggy Bransford Fishery on 21st October 2023. Every entrant managed to land fish on the day, with the winner of the day and ‘top rod’ being Brian Naylor.
Brian receives his ‘top-rod’ trophy for the fishing competition.

For the annual fly tying competition, comprises three parts
The Prizewinners Trophy where members are made up from previous prizewinners and were given the challenge to provide 2 entries of The Peeping Caddis.
The Open Class Trophy entrants have not previously won an award and needed to produce 2 entries of the Flashback Pheasant Tail Nymph
The Innovative Fly which is an open invitation where randomly selected materials are presented and the tyer submits their creation.
The Prizewinners Trophy for this year was awarded to Pete Major, who unfortunately was not present to receive his award.
The Open Class Trophy was awarded to Simon Willmott who can be seen below receiving his shield.

The Innovative Award was won by the best ‘bee-keeper’ in his household and also in our club. The award was presented to Richard Neary who can be seen below collecting his trophy.

The Chairman’s Trophy is an award that is normally awarded to a club member in recognition of outstanding contribution. This year the decision was unanimous and was awarded posthumously to our beloved Chairman Mark Siviter who sadly passed away on 29th February 2024.
It is in no doubt that Mark will be sorely missed by his family, the Worcester Fly Dressers club members and associated people whose lives have been enriched by having him in their lives.
