Ken arranged a trip for us last Sunday to Pitsford reservoir in Northamptonshire. we managed to fill 3 boats after a couple of drop outs and the merry band was comprised of Ken, Dave Hughes, Colin Hurford, Julian Campbell, Peter Major and myself. On arrival we were met with a flat calm lake and a hard frost which although good for photography purposes was probably not ideal for us anglers. Talk about layers of clothing being put on! We sensibly used the layered approach. The sun did come up to make a cool but pleasant day with a gentle breeze and we spread to various points on the lake. A range of home tied pike flies were given swimming lessons but in truth the pike were playing hard to get. At the end of the day pike catchers included Pete Major with 3, me with 2 and Jules with 1. There was a perch caught by Ken and a couple of out of season trout which fancied the outsized lures of Pete and myself. Below shows Jules with the biggest fish of the day. caught on an undisclosed pattern which resembled a Perch! All in all a good day with plenty of unrewarded efforts but, beware Pitsford pike, we shall return! Thanks to Ken for organising the trip and to the hardy souls who braved the cold.
